The Basic EFT Tapping Sequence.

Here are the basic acupressure points used in EFT. Please note that not all points are used in all EFT variations.

  • Sore spot (left side of chest, halfway between the nipple and the collarbone) - RUB, DON'T TAP
  • Eyebrow (tap or touch beginning of either eyebrow, nearest the nose)
  • Side of either eye (tap or rub on the bony part near temple)
  • Under either eye (tap or rub on the bony part)Under nose (tap or rub above upper lip)
  • Crease of chin (tap or rub below lower lip)
  • Collarbone (tap or rub on inside end, either side)
  • Under arm (about 4 inches under the armpit)
On the hand:
  • Thumb, side of nail (next to index finger)
  • Index finger, side of nail (next to thumb)
  • Middle finger, side of nail (next to index finger)
  • Pinkie, side of nail (next to middle finger)
  • Karate chop (side of the hand below the pinkie, what you would use to make a "karate chop") - USE FOUR FINGERS

Optional Points

Additional points used by some related systems:

  • Under breast (on the ribcage in line under the nipple)
  • Top of head
  • Occipital protuberance (base of the skull on the back of the head)
  • Fourth finger, side of nail (next to middle finger)
  • Inside of wrists (where your watch band would be - use two fingers to smack the entire area)

Special Instructions on the Sore Spot

The sore spot is also called the "pledge spot" by some because it is located where would place your hand for the Pledge of Allegiance. Some EFT practitioners do not use it because they feel it is confusing to explain where it is. It's really not that confusing. If you press your fingers into the left side of chest (where you'd place your hand for the Pledge of Allegiance), about halfway between the nipple and the collarbone, you should find a spongy area that's a little "sore" if you press into it. This is the sore spot. You always rub the sore spot instead of tapping it.
